Pranayama & Meditation
“Prana” meaning life force, and “yama” meaning control, pranayama is usually considered the control of breath to create shifts, to get to the depths of your lungs, to soothe or to energize to match your intent. There are many strategies and exercises in this area of yoga, it lands in almost every class.
Also landing in almost every class is a meditation: to center your awareness at the beginning of class, and to go deeper in Savasana and perhaps the closing Sukasana. Meditation is a rest for the mind so it, and we, can go places outside of our observed habits. Possibilities take root here.
